Additional Resume and Cover Letter Targets

When pursuing jobs that are significantly different (in industry or responsibilities), it is best to modify your resume and cover letter to reflect the skill set sought in each type of position.

This can be especially true when the skills are non-complementary, or when one option is a hands-on position and the other is a management position. Emphasizing skills other than those sought by an employer may raise questions about your interest level in a particular position.

Rewriting your resume for appropriate emphasis on different skill sets will sell your abilities relative to the type of position you are pursuing.
